The Isle of Wight Junior Soccer Festival attracts teams from all over the country and, now in its 32nd year, is considered by many to be the best junior tournament of its type in the UK. The competitors are teams of under 8’s right up to under 14’s.
England internationals Alan Shearer and Paul Scholes along with Welsh wizard Ryan Giggs are just three of the big-name stars to have taken part in the past.
The Festival was first staged during Easter 1978 and since then literally thousands of young players have enjoyed the unique attraction of an exciting football festival on the beautiful Isle of Wight in excellent accommodation with a wide range of facilities.
Many teams return year after year, keen to renew old friendships and looking forward to making new ones. Whilst the spotlight naturally falls on the football, the Festival is also a real holiday experience for all the family. This year as usual we have negotiated very special rates for both accommodation and transport to ensure that everyone has an enjoyable and affordable Easter Holiday.
The event is sanctioned by the Football Association and is co-ordinated by an organising committee.
All matches are scheduled to be played on the excellent pitches at Seaclose and Medina Sports grounds in Newport, the Islands’ main town.
Each age group is anticipated to attract up to 9 teams, and with matches played over the two day period, your team can expect to play 8 games, culminating in a FINAL between the top two placed sides. Referees are provided by the Isle of Wight Referees Association.
